My Cat Loves Bleach: Why I’m Always Looking for Natural Cleaning Products

Published by Heather at 12:37 pm under Cleaning Edit This

I know that’s a really weird sentence, but it’s true - my cat loves bleach. Or rather, the smell of bleach. Every time I try to clean the bathroom I have to make sure he’s nowhere around, then lock myself in there with the fumes. Otherwise, he will bust through the door just so he can be near the bleach. He just stands there, sniffing, like he’s in heaven. It makes me nervous. If I wasn’t there, would he drink it? You can imagine my concern.

For a long time, I have long wondered if there was something natural out there that would get rid of mildew as well as bleach does, without turning my cat into a fume-huffing freak. My search yielded this tip:

  1. Mix lemon juice and baking soda together to make a paste.
  2. Apply it to the area you wish to clean, and leave it on for several hours.
  3. Wipe the surface clean, and it should be stain-free.

This is great news! I’m going to try it this weekend and let you all know how it works.

Bonus: the bathroom will smell all lemony-fresh. But, like actual lemons, not that gross chemical lemon scent they throw in every cleaning product ever made.
